Online hiring in Singapore rises by 13% in April
Online hiring in Singapore grew by 13% in April 2019 when compared to the same period last year, according to the latest Monster Employment Index (MEI) for Singapore.
The surge in online recruitment for the IT, Telecom, BPO/ITES industry led to an overall double-digit growth of 13% year-on-year during April. Online hiring for the industry picked up to 39% increase for April. The Banking & Finance and Advertising industries also recorded an impressive increase in demand in April with 26% and 25% year-on-year growth, respectively.
In terms of occupation, Software/Hardware/Telecom professionals witnessed the highest uptick in demand with a 27% year-on-year growth. Meanwhile, talent in HR & Admin also saw a boost in demand for the second month in a row, as growth in online hiring rose by 6%.
Abhijeet Mukherjee, CEO of Monster.com, APAC and Middle East, commented, “Hiring intentions in Singapore remain cautiously positive amidst external headwinds and economic restructuring. Jobseekers can expect a stable hiring environment in Q2, particularly for specialists in the IT and BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) sectors.”
The index is a monthly gauge of online job hiring activity by Monster.com, which records the industries and occupations that show the highest and lowest growth.
